Modern Myths

October 2006-July 2007

For our third season, Forum Theatre selected a collection of contemporary fables, parables, and fairy tales that fit perfectly with Forum’s experimental and visual style. Says Artistic Director Michael Dove: “We are fascinated by theatre magic and illusion and how these storytelling styles work in modern contexts. The shows were set in present-day America and England, but they still contained those same fairy tale elements: fear, adventure, evil, and the supernatural.”

The three shows--Caryl Churchill's The Skriker, Jordan Harrison's Kid-Simple: a radio play in the flesh, and Don Delillo's Valparaiso--were produced in three different venues across the DC area.

Forum also coproduced the DC Beckett Centenary festival, celebrating the work of one of the company's favorite playwrights.
